Broadside Swan Dive

September 20, 2009 ·

This evening my Forgeworld Broadside took a swan dive off the breakfast bar and into the ceramic kitchen floor.

There was a crash, an expletive and hasty assessment of the damage.

As you can see from the photo, gluing the leg armour to the fit definitely formed a strong hold -because the break goes across part of the leg armour.

I hate Tau Broadside models. Someone sneezes and they break and it's usually the ankles. The same goes for Battlesuits, but the later casts seem to have thicker or at least stronger ankles.

The right knee has also come unglued, so this is going to take some careful gluing to get a strong and secure hold again. But those ankles are going to be weaker than ever from here on in.

By the way, I played 2 games this evening. Won 1, Lost 1. More on those later.

I feel some creative pinning coming on...

I definitely suggest pinning them to strengthen them up some more.

I know you said you wanted rid of your current tau army.....but vandalism? that's just a little extreme! tsk, tsk.

Oh, it's you, Bob... said...

Perhaps some terrain pieces on the base to add stability and support? Anyway, sorry for your loss.

Hey. SinSynn here.
(look, my google account is just broken. I dunno. It never works when I try to log on)
Reformatted my computer. Had a problem and it was down for a couple weeks. So I'm catching up.
Interesting ideas you have for your list change. I play 1750 games 'round my way and I just made major changes to my list, as well. I'm still painting up the additions so I've yet to try it out. Hope your revamped Tau do well, my friend.
I can't see you ever settling for a half assed paint job on your stuff. lol.
Sorry about the broadside. I'm sure he'll be back. I've had a couple of those top heavy bastards break at the legs too. Pain in the butt.
My new list looks like this-
Fireknife Shas'el-2 gun drones
2x Fireknives (shas'el joins them)
3x Fireknives-2 gun drones
3x Deathrains-2 gun drones
8x Pathfinders w/Warfish
6x Firewarriors (ride in 'Fish)
10 Kroot/5 Hounds
10 Kroot
3x Melta Piranhas (T. Array/D. Pod)
3x Hammerheads (B. cannons/D. pod/M. tracker)
I think this list has potential. The Piranhas block lanes, keeping those assaulters held back while my shooters put holes in them, assisted by the pathfinders. Kroot can be deployed to keep deep strikers from hitting the suits. My Hammerheads move 12 and Rail/Template stuff (hence the BC over Smart missiles.
I'm hoping the pathfinders will make a difference since I'm not relying on my Command Squad crisis Suits- like you I believe in them over the BS3 variety- but we'll see.
Got a lotta painting to do, but I'm excited to try something different- I've never really run a list like this before. No Broadsides? Heresy!
We'll see ;)
Still love the blog, dude. Keep 'em coming and good luck w/ the new list.

Yep, both of my Broadsides that are painted(non forgeworld) have an iron nail shoved up their rear end. Works well for me.

I see someone else has the same problem with their Broadsides, the thing that helps the Battlesuits avoid this problem is that you can not glue them at the ankles. Broadsides you kind of have to glue and therefore come off as a more fragile joint.
This is one of the reasons I have begun using vehicles in most of my games...
